Explore microfinance supporting rural areas by the glass of Albanian wine
Alternative Financing Studio (AFS) is a consultancy focused on alternative financing, rural development, and the integration of financial sector instruments with agri-business value chains. This Study Tour aims to present a concrete and functional model combining rural financing, agrotourism innovation, and sustainable development within the Albanian agricultural sector.
Purpose of the Visit to UKA FARM
The visit to UKA FARM represents a unique case study that directly connects microfinance and rural investment concepts with the real practices of a modern farm, including:
Financing and development of agrotourism as a rural economic diversification model;
Implementation of a closed-loop “farm-to-table” system integrating production, processing, and the final consumer;
Preservation of biodiversity and the use of biological protection practices for organic production;
Production of high-quality wine from indigenous grape varieties and promotion of agro-cultural heritage;
Traditional cuisine as an element of local identity and added tourism value;
The integrity and personal dedication of Professor Rexhep Uka, a public figure with extensive experience (former Member of Parliament, former Minister of Agriculture, former Deputy Prime Minister), who continues his engagement through hands-on work on the farm and educational activities in lecture settings.
